Brandon Jones Wins Rain-Delayed Chicagoland Race

Rain on Friday at Chicagoland Speedway scrambled the NASCAR O’Reilly Series weekend, canceling Saturday qualifying and moving practice into the scheduled qualifying slot. The starting lineup was set by the metric formula in the rule book, with Connor Zilisch earning the pole, Brent Crews joining him on the front row and Carson Kvapil starting third. Corey Day, Parker Retzlaff, Jesse Love, Anthony Alfredo, Sheldon Creed, Sam Mayer and Sammy Smith rounded out the top 10. The race was scheduled for 5:35 p.m. ET on The CW.

Jesse Love led practice in the 38-car field with a lap of 31.118 seconds at 173.533 mph. Jeb Burton was second, Justin Allgaier third, Zilisch fourth and Corey Day fifth.

Brandon Jones won the race after rain delays, cautions and multiple restarts. Zilisch won Stage 1 and Chase Elliott won Stage 2 before Jones took the lead late. Elliott finished second, Love third, Crews fourth and Austin Hill fifth, while Zilisch finished 10th.
