NASCAR suspends two Beard Motorsports crew members after Pocono wheel loss

NASCAR suspended Beard Motorsports crew members Garrett Crall and Caison Dillon for the next two Cup Series championship points events after Casey Mears’ right-front wheel detached on Lap 105 at Pocono Raceway. The penalty, announced Tuesday in NASCAR’s weekly report, affects the No. 62 team and runs through the race at Sonoma Raceway on June 28.

NASCAR said the incident involved the loss or separation of an improperly installed tire and wheel, and it violated Sections 8.8.10.4.A&D of the NASCAR Rule Book. The wheel came off during Sunday’s Great American Getaway 400 and brought out a caution.

The discipline was treated as a safety-related on-track infraction and leaves Beard Motorsports without two crew members for its immediate upcoming races. The suspensions were tied directly to the No. 62 team’s performance and personnel availability in upcoming Cup Series points events.
