Palou takes Nashville Music City Grand Prix for fifth win
Summary
Alex Palou won the Borchetta Bourbon Music City Grand Prix at Nashville Superspeedway on Monday after rain pushed the race from Sunday. The four-time IndyCar champion and series points leader earned his fifth victory of the 2026 season and his first in the Nashville event.
Palou started fourth in the No. 10 Chip Ganassi Racing Honda on the 1.33-mile concrete oval and took control just past the halfway point. He grabbed the lead after coming down pit road just before a mid-pit cycle caution with 100 laps remaining, then stayed in front through late cautions at Lap 124 and with 45 laps to go.
Josef Newgarden, the hometown favorite and reigning race winner, pressured Palou over the final 35 laps before finishing 0.8731 seconds behind in second. David Malukas was third. Palou has won 13 of the last 29 IndyCar races, and the Nashville victory came after he had gone four races without a top-three finish, with his previous win coming at Detroit on May 31.
