Porsche's Wehrlein completes pole-to-flag Shanghai sweep

Pascal Wehrlein turned pole position into a Shanghai E-Prix victory for Porsche, controlling Race 1 from start to finish in difficult, rain-hit conditions. He beat championship leader Mitch Evans in qualifying with a lap of 1:09.260, earned three points for pole and moved into third in the standings, then completed a maximum-points weekend with the win. The result cut his deficit to Evans to four points.

The 30-lap race shifted from dry to wet as heavy rain arrived late, bringing a safety car that compressed the field. Pit Boost strategy and early stops helped shape a chaotic opening phase in which as many as 18 cars ran closely together in peloton-style racing. Wehrlein avoided mistakes under pressure and held off António Félix da Costa to preserve the pole-to-flag win.

Jake Dennis finished third for Andretti, followed by Felipe Drugovich in fourth and Nyck de Vries in fifth after recovering from deep in the field. Mitch Evans came home eighth and kept the championship lead, though his advantage over Wehrlein was narrowed by the Porsche driver’s victory.
