Carlos Sainz Takes Dramatic Pole Position in Mexico City

Carlos Sainz secured his first pole position in over a year at the Mexico City Grand Prix, beating title rivals Max Verstappen and Lando Norris. Sainz's pole position was a result of two strong laps, while Verstappen recovered from a deleted lap in Q3 to start ahead of Norris.

Norris, who is 57 points behind Verstappen in the Drivers' Championship, will need to gain an average of nearly 12 points per race to win the title. The top five drivers were separated by less than a second, with Norris's time of 1:16.505 being the fastest. Sainz ended up 0.225 seconds quicker than Verstappen, marking his first pole since the 2023 Singapore Grand Prix.
