Derek Chang Appointed as the new Liberty Media CEO

Liberty Media has appointed Derek Chang as the new president and CEO, effective February 1, 2025. He succeeds Greg Maffei, who stepped down in November 2022, with John Malone continuing in an interim capacity until Chang begins. Chang has been a director at Liberty Media since March 2021 and brings extensive experience from the media and sports sectors, having previously worked with EverPass Media and NBA China.

As president and CEO of Formula 1, Chang will oversee operations alongside a three-member executive board committee, which includes Chase Carey and Dob Bennett. Stefano Domenicali, currently the CEO of F1, will report to this committee. Chang has indicated a strong focus on growth, specifically highlighting ongoing investments in both Formula 1 and MotoGP, aiming to bolster their market presence and momentum in the industry.
