FIA Hints At Restructures To Race Direction for 2025 Season

FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem has announced a return to multiple race directors for the 2025 F1 season, a structure last implemented in 2022. This decision comes in response to scrutiny from past controversies, particularly during the Japanese Grand Prix and the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP. The FIA aims to enhance oversight and ensure a more consistent approach to race officiating after acknowledging previous mistakes, such as allowing a recovery vehicle on track under unsafe conditions.

In addition to restructuring race direction, the FIA is enforcing stricter regulations on driver behavior, emphasizing the need for discipline to maintain the sport's integrity. As part of this initiative, drivers will face penalties for misconduct, such as swearing and public criticism. Ben Sulayem has highlighted that drivers, as representatives of F1, must set a positive example, especially for younger fans.
