NASCAR Introduces Stricter Penalties for Race Manipulation

NASCAR is implementing stricter penalties and rule changes for the 2025 season in response to incidents of race manipulation observed during the previous year's playoff race at Martinsville. In light of these events, participants found engaging in such underhanded tactics face a hefty $100,000 fine. The new regulations also empower NASCAR to impose severe consequences on manufacturers whose teams violate policies, with potential point deductions and suspensions.

Adjustments to the rules include significant updates to the "100% rule," specifically prohibiting outcome manipulation and providing clearer language around this issue. The Damaged Vehicle Policy has been revised to allow teams to perform repairs in the garage without facing disqualification, thus mitigating the impact of accidents on race outcomes. Furthermore, an Open Exemption Provisional rule has been introduced to increase grid options for select races, along with updated guidelines for playoff eligibility waivers. These measures aim to foster integrity and fairness in racing while holding all parties accountable for their actions.
