No.34 moved to back of grid; three Corvettes miss Hyperpole
Summary
Racing Team Turkey’s No.34 Corvette was disqualified after scrutineers found excessive wear had reduced the rear-diffuser strake height below the legal limit, and officials annulled Peter Dempsey’s fastest lap in the Bronze-rated 30-minute LMGT3 session (3:55.744).
The exclusion prevented the No.34 from contesting Thursday’s Hyperpole and altered the provisional Hyperpole order, promoting the No.62 Iron Lynx Mercedes into a Hyperpole slot. Officials said all three Corvette LMGT3 entries were absent from the Hyperpole session following the decision; the No.33 TF Sport Corvette remained the best-placed Corvette in 17th, while the No.13 and No.2 entries were left at the rear of the field. Race officials confirmed the No.34 will be moved to the back of the grid and is set to start the race 25th.
Corvette said its engineers will evaluate the other Corvette entries for similar wear. Racing Team Turkey had not issued a public statement, and teams adjusted to the changed Hyperpole lineup and starting order after scrutineering’s ruling.
