Prime Video's run ends as NASCAR shifts back to TNT, HBO Max
Summary
NASCAR’s Cup Series coverage shifted back to TNT Sports and HBO Max after Prime Video completed its five-race run, with the next stretch beginning Sunday at Sonoma Raceway in the Toyota/Save Mart 350. TNT Sports said the package will carry the Cup races live on TNT and stream them on HBO Max, with practice and qualifying on truTV and HBO Max. The five-race run is set to continue through Chicago, Atlanta, North Wilkesboro and the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis before coverage moves to NBC Sports, USA Network and Peacock for the rest of the regular season and the playoffs.
TNT Sports is emphasizing upgraded production for the broadcasts, including 40 cameras, ultra-slow-motion technology, expanded replay tools, more drone coverage at Sonoma, North Wilkesboro and Indianapolis, and every race presented in 1080p HD. The network also plans to add more NASCAR programming on HBO Max and said Bleacher Report will handle digital promotion and double-box advertising. TNT Sports also said it is beginning its second year of In-Season Challenge coverage and will revive the competition for the Cup Series run.
The broadcast booth will again feature Adam Alexander, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Steve Letarte. Marty Smith will host pre- and post-race coverage, while Jimmie Johnson, Jamie McMurray, Jeff Burton and other guests are set to appear on studio programming at selected races. TNT Sports also said the In-Season Challenge will offer a $1 million prize for the winning driver and for any fan who submits a perfect bracket, with additional studio stops planned for North Wilkesboro Speedway and Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
