Rodin's Badoer leads every lap to take maiden F3 win in Monaco
Summary
Brando Badoer claimed his first FIA Formula 3 (F3) Feature Race win in Monaco, leading all 27 laps for Rodin Motorsport. MotorsportWeek credited his victory to a quick reaction at the start, clean restarts and maintaining pace in the latter stages.
He started on the front row alongside Théophile Nael, who took pole after topping Group B with a 1:24.471 lap; Badoer had set a 1:24.612.
The race was neutralised on Lap 2 when Tuukka Taponen crashed at Rascasse following a failed pass by Maciej Gladysz, bringing out the Safety Car. Racing resumed on Lap 5 and Badoer produced a composed restart.
By Lap 18 Badoer had built roughly a two-second lead, but Nael mounted a late charge and closed to under one second in the final five laps. Freddie Slater (Trident), who qualified third, had a difficult launch — he initially held third but fell away in the closing stages and finished third, crossing the line about 11.5 seconds behind Nael.
The top ten were Brando Badoer, Théophile Nael, Freddie Slater, Ugo Ugochukwu, Ernesto Rivera, Bruno del Pino, Alessandro Giusti, Pedro Clerot, Gerrard Xie and Noah Stromsted.
Badoer’s victory moved him to fourth in the F3 drivers’ standings on 28 points. Ugo Ugochukwu extended his championship lead to 43 points and Campos Racing increased its teams' advantage to a 75-point margin. F3 will move to Barcelona for the next round, scheduled June 12–14.
