Horner Slams Harsh Penalties Against Max Verstappen

    Summary

Red Bull's team principal, Christian Horner, has disagreed with the penalties given to Max Verstappen during the Mexican Grand Prix. Horner argued that the double penalty imposed on Verstappen for his incidents with Lando Norris was too harsh. The GPS data showed that Norris was traveling 15km/h faster into Turn 4 than at any other point in the race, suggesting that Verstappen was not at fault for the incidents. Horner believes that the current regulations are flawed and in need of reform, particularly the "inside line" rule which grants the driver on the inside of a turn priority. However, Horner argues that this rule is being misinterpreted, and drivers are being encouraged to cut off their opponents rather than yield the inside line. He claims that Norris would have gone off track if he had braked later during the incidents, as he did during the second incident.
