NASCAR has unveiled a revamped practice and qualifying format set to begin in 2025, reflecting input from fans and participants. This new structure will extend practice sessions to 25 minutes and implement a simplified single-round qualifying process for most tracks, helping to streamline the overall experience for teams and enthusiasts. Notably, there will be a 50-minute practice session leading up to the iconic Daytona 500, which is scheduled for February 16, 2025. Additionally, broadcasting of these sessions will rotate among major media partners such as Prime Video and TNT Sports, in line with a seven-year deal commencing in 2025.

Meanwhile, the playoff format is drawing attention after champion Joey Logano's victory, which has sparked discussions among drivers about its effectiveness. With Logano finishing in the top 10 just 13 times in 37 races, peers like Denny Hamlin and Ryan Blaney have called for changes that might place a greater emphasis on regular-season performance. Suggestions include increasing bonus points and reducing the number of elimination races to enhance competitive integrity. Logano, while maintaining support for the current system, acknowledges the feedback regarding the playoff structure and hints at possible future adjustments, such as a two-race finale format. NASCAR executives, including President Steve Phelps, stand firm on the existing playoff framework, emphasizing its focus on winning and its ability to generate thrilling competition.
