Pirelli Tests New Tyres for 2026 Season

Pirelli has successfully conducted its first testing session for the 2026 season at the Paul Ricard Circuit, collaborating with McLaren to develop new wet and intermediate tyres. Over a two-day program, drivers Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris completed a substantial 243 laps, generating 840 kilometers of valuable data amidst varying weather conditions. The focus of this testing was to fine-tune the design and performance of the next generation of rain tyres, aiming for consistent track conditions.

Mario Isola, Pirelli’s Director of Motorsport, expressed satisfaction with the results, emphasizing the importance of these tests in enhancing tyre performance. Following the session, Pirelli plans to shift its efforts towards developing dry-weather compounds, with additional testing sessions scheduled to take place in Spain. The upcoming 2026 car will be characterized by narrower tyres, a lighter chassis, and a new power unit that integrates both electric power and sustainable fuels, marking a significant evolution in Formula One technology.
