Russell Optimistic About Mercedes' W16 Performance

George Russell has shared insights on Mercedes' 2025 F1 car, the W16, noting that it will include several long-developed components absent from the W15. After a challenging three years since the switch to ground effect cars, Mercedes aims to improve on its fourth-place finish in the constructors’ standings. The team secured three wins during the 2024 season but faced difficulties toward the end, prompting a focus on identified areas for improvement over the winter. Russell emphasized that the upcoming season is critical, as it precedes significant regulatory changes, including smaller cars and modifications to the engine formula.

Highlighting a strategy for aggressive development to maintain competitiveness, Russell expressed optimism and readiness for a championship push, aiming to convert past successes into a stronger performance in the W16. The car has been successfully fired up, with its official livery set to debut at the F1 75 Live event in London on February 18, followed by a shakedown in Bahrain.
