Viking Motorsports Shifts to Chevrolet for 2025

Viking Motorsports has announced a strategic shift for the 2025 NASCAR season, extending their contract with driver Matt DiBenedetto and changing their manufacturer affiliation from Ford to Chevrolet. This transition includes a rebranding from RSS Racing, marked by a new team number, moving from 38 to 99. Team owner Don Sackett cited insufficient support from Ford, particularly a $1.3 million alliance that did not yield meaningful benefits, as a catalyst for the decision to go independent.

While the team initially considered forming an alliance with Richard Childress Racing, Sackett clarified that Viking Motorsports would instead focus on building their own technology and resources without external partnerships. This independent path aims to foster long-term growth and stability within the organization as they look to develop a competitive team around DiBenedetto in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
