Dan Ticktum takes Monaco pole in Masters of the Universe livery

Practice and qualifying at the Monaco E‑Prix were disrupted by multiple stoppages on the Monte Carlo street circuit. Nyck de Vries topped the shortened FP2 session, with reports listing his fastest lap in the mid-1:26s, variously recorded as 1:26.664 and 1:26.872. Edoardo Mortara was about 0.160 seconds back. Mitch Evans was third, and Pascal Wehrlein, Maximilian Günther and Jake Dennis completed the top six. The 30-minute FP2 began at 9:10 a.m. local but was cut short after Zane Maloney crashed into the turn-3 wall at the top of Beau Rivage; Maloney blamed a brake problem and exited uninjured. Qualifying set the grid for Round 9, with Dan Ticktum taking pole in the Julius Baer Pole Position duels, his second pole on the streets of Monte Carlo. Ticktum drove a blue-purple car entered in partnership with Amazon MGM Studios to promote the film Masters of the Universe, and he beat Maximilian Günther in the semifinal, narrowly avoiding the barriers exiting the casino on his final run. Nyck de Vries advanced past Mitch Evans to reach the final duel but finished behind Ticktum. Pascal Wehrlein topped Group A with a lap of 1:28.832 and progressed to the Duels alongside Nico Müller and Günther. Edoardo Mortara suffered a mechanical issue and failed to set a time, eliminating him from contention.

Qualifying results determine the starting grid for Round 9 and the Julius Baer Pole Position duels award pole position points, which will affect the drivers’ championship standings. Ticktum’s pole secures him the front-row start and the accompanying pole position points, and advancement into the Duels gave Wehrlein, Müller and Günther the opportunity to improve their starting positions. Mortara’s failure to set a time denied him the chance to score qualifying points and may affect his position in the standings. Both races of the Monaco double-header are set to start at 3:05 p.m. local on Saturday and Sunday.
