Invicta strategy sends Câmara to first F2 win
Summary
Rafael Câmara won the Formula 2 feature race in Barcelona-Catalunya for his maiden F2 victory, as Invicta Racing’s strategy paid off in a race shaped by pit stops, tyre life and repeated lead changes. Câmara started from pole but lost the lead to Alex Dunne at Turn 1 after a poor launch, then recovered after the pit stops and pulled clear late on fresher tyres to win by 9.8 seconds. The result came after a difficult Monaco weekend and marked a breakthrough in his F2 campaign.
Nikola Tsolov took a different strategy to climb from deeper in the field and finish second for Campos Racing, after overtaking Dunne and Gabriele Minì in the lead group. That result moved Tsolov into the Formula 2 championship lead, ahead of Minì. Dunne finished third for RODIN Motorsport, 12.4 seconds behind the winner after fading later in the race.
Minì finished fourth, Laurens Van Hoepen was fifth and Dino Beganovic sixth. John Bennett recovered from 18th on the grid to finish seventh. The race featured an early safety car and several strategy changes that produced multiple lead swings, and the 21-car classification listed Ollie Goethe as the only retirement.
