Kush Maini takes Hungarian F2 pole for ART Grand Prix

Kush Maini took Formula 2 pole position for ART Grand Prix in Hungarian Grand Prix qualifying at the Hungaroring, setting a 1:28.896 to claim his second pole of the 2026 FIA Formula 2 season. Maini finished more than a tenth of a second ahead of Rafael Câmara, who qualified second for Invicta Racing, while Noel León was third for Campos Racing. Joshua Duerksen was fourth after recovering from an early scare, Roman Inthraphuvasak took fifth, Laurens van Hoepen sixth, championship leader Nikola Tsolov seventh, Dino Beganovic eighth, Gabriele Minì ninth and Sebastián Montoya 10th, with Montoya also earning reverse-grid pole for the feature race.

The session at the Hungaroring was tightly fought, with the top spot changing hands several times and the final battle decided by narrow margins. Duerksen briefly led qualifying before his lap was deleted for track limits, and Tsolov later set a benchmark time of 1:29.601 before Maini went quickest with eight minutes remaining. Source reports said the field kept improving after Tsolov’s early benchmark as the pole fight unfolded.

Earlier in the day, Dino Beganovic topped the weekend’s only practice session with a 1:30.720, ahead of Gabriele Minì and Nico Varrone. The Formula 2 Sprint Race was scheduled for Saturday at 14:15 local time.
