TF Sport Corvette Wins LMGT3 at Le Mans From 17th

    Summary

TF Sport’s No. 33 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R won the LMGT3 class at the 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans, coming from 17th on the 25-car grid to beat the Akkodis ASP Lexus No. 78 by one lap, with the on-track margin about 20 seconds. The lead changed hands several times in a race that came under pressure from Lexus and Heart of Racing Aston Martin entries.

Ben Keating opened the race in the Corvette and completed his required six hours of driving early. He returned to competition only nine weeks after a cycling accident left him with an elbow injury severe enough to make him miss the first two FIA World Endurance Championship races. Keating said the pain in his injured arm was intense but manageable with ice, and he joked that one especially long opening stint left him wanting to cut off the injured arm. He shared the car with Nicky Catsburg and Jonny Edgar, who drove the later stages and brought it home to victory. A late safety car erased the Corvette’s lead and made the finish more stressful, although Keating said the hot conditions helped because every car had to double- and triple-stint tires.

The result gave Chevrolet its first Le Mans class win since 2023 and marked the Corvette’s 10th Le Mans victory. It was Keating’s third class win at Le Mans. The runner-up Lexus achieved its best FIA WEC result to date, while Heart of Racing’s No. 23 Aston Martin finished third after its pole-winning sister car was delayed by gearbox problems. The sister Akkodis ASP Lexus finished fourth, the best Ferrari was fifth, and the points-leading Manthey Porsche and a WRT BMW both lost time or retired because of mechanical problems.
