Tsolov Passes Late to Seal Fourth F2 Victory of 2026
Summary
Nikola Tsolov won the Formula 2 feature race at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, taking his fourth victory of the 2026 season and tightening the title race. The Campos Racing driver, who started third and is also a Red Bull junior, briefly lost the lead during the pit stop cycle before regaining it and pulling away to win by 3.9 seconds. In the post-race press conference, Tsolov said he defended his position before making a late, controlled braking move into Turn 3 to take the lead.
Gabriele Minì finished second for MP Motorsport and Oliver Goethe took third to score his first Formula 2 podium, giving MP a double podium finish. Rafael Câmara was fourth for Invicta Racing, Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak finished fifth, and Alexander Dunne was sixth after being passed by Martinius Stenshorne on the final lap. The top 10 was completed by Noel Leon, Laurens Van Hoepen and Joshua Duerksen, while Mari Boya, Rafael Villagomez and Sebastian Montoya did not finish.
Tsolov’s win cut Minì’s championship lead to two points, with Minì on 108 points and Tsolov on 106 after the race. Campos Racing led the teams’ standings with 166 points, ahead of MP Motorsport on 136, and the series next moved to Silverstone for Round 7.
