Ugochukwu leads every lap for record F3 Silverstone win
Summary
Ugo Ugochukwu delivered a dominant FIA Formula 3 Sprint Race victory at Silverstone, starting from pole position and leading every lap on his way to a 17.023-second win over Yevan David. The margin was the largest in the current F3 format, and Ugochukwu also took the fastest-lap point to score the maximum available points from the weekend’s sprint race. The result lifted him to the top of the Drivers’ Championship standings on 89 points, with a 21-point lead.
David finished second after applying early pressure throughout the 18-lap race, and his podium finish was the first by a Sri Lankan driver in F3. Théophile Nael completed the podium in third after overtaking Matteo De Palo at the final corner. De Palo finished fourth, Noah Stromsted was fifth after late Trident team battles, and the race featured a string of close fights across the field.
Freddie Slater finished sixth, Louis Sharp was seventh, Fionn McLaughlin finished ninth to score his first F3 points, and James Wharton came tenth.
The Silverstone feature race was scheduled for Sunday morning at 08:25 local time.
