    Summary

Augusto Fernandez has been officially signed as Yamaha's MotoGP test rider for the 2025 season, joining Cal Crutchlow in the Yamaha Factory Racing MotoGP Test Team. With a solid background that includes two years of experience in MotoGP and a Moto2 World Championship title, Fernandez brings a wealth of knowledge that is expected to significantly aid Yamaha's bike development efforts. His initial assignment will commence with the shakedown test scheduled in Sepang at the end of January 2025.

Fernandezā€™s role will encompass participating in official tests, contributing feedback for the development of Yamaha's YZR-M1 bike, as well as taking part in up to six wildcard races throughout the season. If required, he will also step in as a replacement rider for the main racing squad. Yamaha's Managing Director, Lin Jarvis, emphasized the necessity of Fernandez's youthful energy and experience to enhance the team's testing capabilities, particularly given Crutchlow's limited ability to participate due to injury challenges. The team is optimistic that Fernandezā€™s involvement will help them regain a competitive edge in the MotoGP rankings.
