    Summary

Genesis has officially entered the world of endurance racing with the unveiling of its first Le Mans prototype, the GMR-001. Scheduled to compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) Hypercar class in 2026 and in IMSA's GTP class in 2027, the GMR-001 marks the debut of the Genesis Magma sub-brand. The prototype is developed in collaboration with Oreca for its chassis, while specifics regarding the engine remain unconfirmed. Notable drivers Andre Lotterer and Pipo Derani will represent the Genesis Magma Racing team, bringing their extensive racing credentials to this new initiative.

Team principal Cyril Abiteboul has highlighted Hyundai's ambition within the high-performance luxury segment, as Genesis seeks to innovate in motorsport while adhering to principles of sustainability. To build experience prior to their WEC debut, the team plans to participate in the 2025 European Le Mans Series and is planning a robust technical development program. Notably, the GMR-001 will incorporate advanced hybrid technologies, aligning with Genesis's commitment to integrating cutting-edge automotive technology with its luxury vehicle lineup.

With its strategic focus on endurance racing rather than Formula 1, Genesis aims to enhance its brand identity and technological capabilities in a format that complements its existing vehicle offerings. Supported by Hyundai Motorsport, the GMR-001 project reflects Genesis's long-term vision of creating a competitive presence in world-class endurance racing.
