Red Bull's Head of Race Strategy Departs for McLaren

Will Courtenay, the head of race strategy at Red Bull, has left the team after 14 years to join McLaren as sporting director. He will report to racing director Randeep Singh and aim to help grow the team's sporting operations. Courtenay's departure is the third senior management exit from Red Bull in five months, following Adrian Newey and Jonathan Wheatley.

Courtenay has been with Red Bull for 14 years, rising from systems engineer to head of race strategy. He will join McLaren in 2026, reporting to racing director Randeep Singh, and aims to bolster the team's on-track racing operations. Despite Red Bull's efforts to keep him, Courtenay will leave the team after his contract ends in mid-2026.
