Slater disqualified from F3 practice at Silverstone
Summary
Freddie Slater was disqualified from FIA Formula 3 practice at Silverstone after his TRIDENT car failed to provide the required minimum 0.8 kg fuel sample, a breach of Article 6.3.1 of the technical regulations. During the stewards’ hearing, the team representative confirmed the sample could not be extracted from the car at the end of the session. The ruling changed the classification on technical grounds, moving every driver behind Slater up one place and promoting Ernesto Rivera to first.
Slater had originally topped the 45-minute session at his home event with a lap of 1:46.161 and held the lead until the end. Rivera had finished second, with Matteo de Palo third, Hiyu Yamakoshi fourth and Enzo Deligny fifth. No other driver beat Slater’s benchmark time.
The practice session opened the Silverstone weekend, and a Virtual Safety Car test in the closing minutes prevented any further improvements and effectively froze the top 10. Championship leader Ugo Ugochukwu finished 10th, Tuukka Taponen was 24th, and qualifying was scheduled to begin at 14:00 local time.
