Dovizioso Returns to MotoGP for Yamaha Shakedown

Andrea Dovizioso is set to return to the MotoGP scene as he participates in the upcoming shakedown at Sepang with Yamaha, marking his first involvement since retirement. Scheduled for January 31 to February 2, 2025, this test will allow Dovizioso to work alongside rookies and test riders, evaluating the technological advancements made by Yamaha during the winter. The manufacturer is working to narrow the performance gap with its competitors, transitioning from an inline four-cylinder engine to a new V-cylinder configuration for future integration.

Dovizioso's extensive experience is expected to play a critical role in the development of Yamaha's new V4 engine, which has been delayed in testing due to readiness issues. Although Yamaha's new lineup includes fellow race riders Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins, along with new test rider Augusto Fernandez, the debut of the V4 engine in competitive racing is anticipated for the latter half of the 2025 season.
